The Angel and the Scalliwag / More fall fun

Well, we have been busy! On the 18th I went with some friends down to Derry, NH. We had heard that there is a flea market with tons of designer hand bags and we just had to see it for ourselves. We had so much fun! There was tent after tent of bags and tons of people were there. In fact, there were so many bags that I got completely overwhelmed and did not even buy myself a purse! I got Jocelyn a Kate Spade diaper bag though, so that kind of counts for me since I am the one who carries it. We definitely want to go back - maybe in the spring. Here are a couple pictures of the market.

Last Friday Dan was needed to drive the bus for a field trip at the school. The k-5 and 1st and 2nd graders were going to a pumpkin patch so Dan decided to take C along. When I picked C up, he could not stop talking about all of the fun he had

Friday evening we dropped the kids off at my in laws and took the youth group to Scarborough for a haunted hay ride. We had a lot of fun. The hay ride was actually a little scary too. I am pretty sure that the teens who came enjoyed our little trip.

Last Saturday morning C and I cut his jack- o- lantern. It was the pumpkin that he received on the field trip the day before. This year he "helped" me cut it. Basically he held the knife while I pushed it through the pumpkin. He loved doing that . Here are some pics of my proud little boy.

Our church was hosting a harvest party for the kids in the evening. C was so excited to go. I got the kids all dressed up and we were pulling into the church parking lot at 7pm when my sister in law called and asked if we had broken down. When I told her that we had just pulled in, she told me that the party was all over. It had actually started at 5pm! C was soooo disappointed and I was too. In fact, I almost started crying with C because I felt so bad! Luckily Mike and Rach(my BIL and SIL) had gone up to my in-laws house and M and L(my niece and nephew) were still in their costumes.We decided to go up to their house too, since it is just down the street from the church. So I got C all excited about getting to show NaNA and PaPa his costume and he was ok. M gave C half of her candy when we got there and C, who was really just interested in candy, was very pleased and forgot all about missing the party. Here are some pictures of the costumes. I'll try to get some better ones tonight before they go out to trick or treat.

Tomorrow our church is hosting its annual ladies' fellowship. We have been very busy this week getting ready for it. Ladies from churches all around Maine come and we have a few churches from New Hampshire and even Massachusetts that come. That gets you up to date on what is happening here. Have a great day.

Fall Fun!

Fall has come. I have been dreading it all summer. Not because I hate fall, but because I know what is so much closer - winter snow. But autumn has put me under it's spell and I am truly enjoying all of the colors of the leaves. I love the crisp smell of the out doors and the fall decorations everywhere.


We took a group of teens to the Freyeburg fair on the last Monday of September and brought Caleb along. Jocelyn stayed with my sister-in-law all day and did very well with her. I am so glad we did not bring her. She is not a stay-in-the-stroller-all-day-long sort of girl.

These pictures are of Caleb playing a $3. game to get a $.50 horn that he can blow the entire trip home in the van and eventually have taken away from him for blowing it in his sister's ear.

Is it just me or do the fair rides look like the same ones that we used to ride when we were kids? I don't mean the same type of rides, I mean the very ride in which I sat some twenty odd years ago. These things looked like they had been through a war! Many of the seats on the rides were held together with duct tape and rope. Watching your child go in one of these things could surely turn even the hardest person into a prayer warrior! Several rides were held up on cinder blocks on one side and a milk crate on the other. Very Scary! Caleb had an obliviously good time though.

On Wednesday the 8th, I took Caleb and Jocelyn to a local apple farm. There were animals to feed, a sand box, a corn box, a little hay maze, and a slide. We also got to go on a tour of their cider press and apple packing plant. Then we went to the orchard to pick our own apples. The kids had allot of fun. We went with our play group, so Caleb had many friends to enjoy this with

Happy Birthday, Jocelyn!

Jocelyn's birthday was last Thursday. I can't believe my baby is one! It seems like just yesterday that her long awaited arrival finally came.














On Thursday we just gave her gifts from us and my parents in Indiana. She got a doll from my mom and dad and spent the entire evening kissing the baby. She is so cute when she kisses! She puckers up and does the complete mmmmm- Muh! each time. On Saturday night we had all of Dan's family over for a birthday party. Jocelyn got lots of girly toys.














It is kind of funny to have so much pink and purple in the house after getting used to mostly boy's toys for so long.

I made Jocelyn's cake this year. I saw a picture of a mini three - tiered cake a few months ago and decided that would be so cute to make for Jocey's b-day. I ordered a cake pan set and made it. This is the first "fancy" cake I have ever made and it was quite obvious! I laughed every time I looked at it. Good thing Jocelyn is just little so she doesn't really care what it looks like. Personally, I think it looks like something you would see on the table at the "Who Christmas Feast"right next to the "roast beast" HA! HA! I made two cakes so every one would get a piece. These were only about 6 inches high.
Despite what they looked like, everyone enjoyed them especially the birthday girl!














Jocelyn is now in the 50% for her height, 35% for weight. She walks, but would rather crawl, she climbs onto anything she can,she has 7 teeth, ande she says the following words: "ball", hi", "hu woe" (hello), "baba"(baby or dog), "wow", "uh-oh", and of course "Ma Ma" and "Da Da".
