This is hard - like noodles.

Well, we have had a busy week and a half. I have been wanting to post but haven't had the time till now. I took Jocelyn for her 4 month pictures last Saturday. I like to go to the Picture People because I just love how they capture the kid's personalities. The closest Picture People is in Portland which is a good 45 minute drive.but I feel like it is worth it, especially when I have a good coupon. Plus you leave with your portraits. You don't have to wait for weeks like other places. I took Caleb and Jocelyn by myself and the kids were great. Caleb is such a ham. I told him that we were just getting pics of Jocey because he had had pics in December for his three year portrait. Well Caleb was playing and Jocelyn was getting her pictures taken and Caleb just walked right into the photo room, sat down behind Jocelyn, and started grinning. Of course the lady took pictures of the kids together and they turned out really cute. While we were waiting for the pictures to upload in the computer, Jocelyn rolled over from her back to her tummy. This was the first time she had done this and I was so excited.

It pretty much snowed all week last week. Bus transportation was canceled for church last Sunday morning and Sunday night church was also canceled. We had an ice storm on Wednesday and church was canceled again. Let me just say that it is very rare that church is canceled especially two times in a week. On Wednesday afternoon we lost power and it didn't come back on until right before 8 pm. Last

Sunday afternoon we took Caleb sledding for the first time. He went with Dan first and giggled the whole way down. He was happy -- until he hit the bottom and fell into the snow. Guess what? He hates snow. Wonder where he got that. LOL! Every time the snow got on his face he just started crying. It didn't help that he was ready for a nap and hadn't had lunch yet. I told Dan we will have to just keep taking him sledding until he learns to like it. You can't be a Mainer and hate snow!

On Monday we went to a birthday party for two of Caleb's friends. They are twin girls and it was their third birthday. We went to Jokers and I think Caleb had a great time. Here are some pictures from the party.


Also Caleb sneaked into the gate to the big slide. This was not included in the birthday package and Caleb had been begging me to let him go on it. I never told him no, I just kind of didn't answer him hoping he would forget about it. Well, he disappeared and the next thing I knew he was playing on the big slide. He had gone through the gate(there was no worker guarding it) and was having a blast going up and down until a worker noticed and kindly kicked him out.



I wanted to show you a box of candy I got. I won it! I entered a drawing on a blog called Mamas Like for a box of chocolates from Red Thread Confections.And I won! The chocolates were so pretty I felt badly for eating them. The picture really doesn't do the candy justice. All of these candies are hand made. And yes, they are good. Very good.


Caleb woke up last Monday with a cough. I thought it was just a cough that he has had off and on all winter. But the cough progressively got worse and Saturday night he had a fever and was laying on the floor saying his ear hurt. Sunday morning he seemed ok, so we went to church, but the first thing he said when he was picked up from his class was that he didn't feel good.We didn't go to church last night. I satyed home with the kids. I took him to the doctor today and he has a double ear infection. Poor little guy! He has been pretty miserable all day. I am hoping he will begin to feel better by tomorrow since I started him on his medicine as soon as we got home from the docs. Jocelyn also woke up with a cold this morning at 4:30. This was after Caleb had been up every half hour from 11pm to 3:30 am. It is so hard for Jocey to nurse with her nose all stuffed up. She tries and then gets so upset and won't try again. I think she thinks it is my fault. I feel so bad for her. I had the doctor check her out this morning. She said it was just a cold.

Caleb's quote for the day is the title of my post. He was putting on his socks the other day and he told me,"This is hard." "It is?", I said. "Yes," he said,"This is hard - like noodles."

OK, I guess sometimes things are hard - like noodles.

Even More Snow!

We have had a ton of snow this week. There was a big storm on Tuesday that left about 4 inches. Another yesterday morning. Then last night we got about six more inches. And guess what? There is a big snow storm coming on Saturday night and going into Sunday morning.The pictures above are taken of my backyard. It may look pretty, but when it is all you see for two and a half months straight it can get really old.

Well, onto better subjects. The kids are great! Jocey loves to play on the floor on her tummy. She can play for about twenty minutes before she gets tired of holding up her head. She also can kick off of things that are behind her and scooch across the floor this way. She has developed an interesting taste for the couch. LOL Whenever we are sitting there and she is near the arm, she sticks out her toungue and leans toward it. If I let her, she would be happy making the couch soggy and sucking out all of the stuff that has settled on the fabric through the years. Don't worry- I don't let her do that.

Caleb has really gotten very independent lately. He can put on his clothes with hardly any help, he gets things out of the fridge when he needs them, he goes potty(most of the time) without help or being told to do so. The other night he asked Dan and me if he could have some pop corn. We said yes, but I was busy with Jocelyn at the moment, so I told him I would be there in a minute. Dan and I were talking and we realized that we had just heard the microwave buttons beeping and the microwave was now running. Dan ran into the kitchen and found that Caleb had taken it upon himself to get the popcorn ready. The timer was set for 14 minutes! So Dan reset the timer.When he came back into the living room, I asked him if Caleb had taken the cellophane off of the bag all by himself. Dan gave me a funny look and ran back into the kitchen to stop the plastic from melting all over the microwave. It's a wonder our house didn't catch fire!LOL The pop corn proved itself to be doomed, however because Dan didn't notice that it was a single serving pack and therefore only needed to cook for a minute and a half instead of three minutes. There was a wonderful aroma throughout the house for the rest of the evening.

Caleb just loves the alphabet. He wants to know what letter everything starts with. I got him a book from the library called Super Hero ABC This book is perfect for boys because it is all about super heroes and there are alot of gross things that make boys laugh. There is Goo Girl who "shoots green goo at gangsters", the Odor Officer who "obviously objects to offensive odors",and Huge man who "helps heroes and has hairy arms". But Caleb's absolute favorite is The Volcano.

Yes, folks, he "vomits on villains"!

Last Sunday Caleb was getting ready to take a nap at his NaNa and PaPa's house. He insisted on being covered up by all of the pillows and when I asked him why he said" I want be all buckled in." Oh, of course how silly of me to not realize this.

Jocelyn is four months today! I felt like my pregnancy went on for an eternity, but now everything is just flying by.

I have taken on two more things that will make me even more busy than before. Starting Monday I will be babysitting a 9 month old boy full- time. This will allow me to be able to contribute to our finances and hopefully eventually make it possible for Dan to drop one of his part time jobs. (He has two in addition to his full-time job as an assistant pastor)

I also joined a gym this week. I have been moaning about how I want to get in shape too long. It is now time to do something about it.I am very excited about this and Dan has been very supportive of me and is willing to watch the kids whenever he can so I can sneak away to work out. I have always HATED excercise. I remember giving my gym teacher in jr. high withering looks whenever she made us run laps. I usually avoid exercise at all costs, but I find that I really enjoy working out. Go figure.

The youth pastor at our church has decided to take a church to pastor in Mssachusetts. Dan will be taking over all of his resposibilities. He will now lead the youth group and be in charge of all of the bus routes that bring children to our church. I am so excited for Dan! We actually moved up here three years ago to take this man's place. But God's timing is different than ours. We are definately going to miss the Weeks'.We are also excited to see what God has for us and them in the years to come.

Dan preached in church on Wednesday night because his dad was in Indiana for Dan's sister's college graduation. After church he was approached by one of the teen girl's asking him if he could help her with her assurance of her salvation. Dan was able to lead her to the Lord. He was so excited!

Life here is going pretty well. Caleb still has great days with his potty training and then not so great days. I am very proud of him, though. He is working very hard to master this. Jocelyn is rolling from her tummy to her back now. She tries to grab everything in sight and she gets so excited about new textures.

I know that sopme of you may remember that when Jocelyn was first born, Caleb had a very big jealousy issue. I couldn't trust him to be alone with her out of my sight for a second. There were times during that first month and a half that I just sat down and cried thinking they were always going to hate each other. I am happy to say that Caleb has really come around. He is still rough and I still have to watch him, but he has gotten so much better and he really does love Jocey. He will,of his own accord, go up to her and give her kisses and tell her he loves her. The other day she was fussing while I was cleaning the kitchen and he gave her his favorite blanket and started singing "twinkle little star" to her. She stopped crying and gave Caleb the sweetest little grin.



Caleb has been very interested in pretend play lately. The other day he asked me for the ball. I said,"What ball?" He answered, "The ball in your hand." (There was nothing in my hand) So I gave him the "ball" and he proceeded to bounce it all over my house. Guess I don't have to worry about him breaking anything with that.
